“His informal but highly informative lectures are his strongest selling point as a professor…More importantly, he is very enthusiastic about helping students seriously interested in being historians.”

Chapter 2018

NK Harrington, “Union and Toleration in Ireland,” in Ireland, Irish America, and Work, ed. Donna Potts and Amy L. May (Cambridge: Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2018), 43-64.

I go by Nick Harrington and my reason for making this website is to help connect with people looking for an academic. So if you’re a fabulously wealthy individual that wants to hire someone that knows a lot about moderate paramilitary nationalism in 19th century Irish politics, I’m your guy. If you just want to connect with a perpetual student of humanity and the world (with a specialty in World History, Imperialism, Irish History, European History, and World War I), then I’m probably your guy too.

I try to think of myself as a scholar, a writer, and a teacher. But in all honesty, I’m always a student that remains fascinated that the more one learns, the more one understands they know nothing. The exchanging of information is always learning new complexity that adds new layers of understanding. When I teach, I always think of myself as one of the students.

I originally got into academics to read and write. As anyone accumulates knowledge and ideas, I believe that there is a responsibility to complete the circle and to share what one’s learned. I have written much but have only started my journey of having these works published. I look forward to exchanging knowledge with other people.
